BROOKLYN IN A REAR VIEW MIRROR; AT THE SPEED OF SOUND WHILE THIS LAND ROLLS BY

Phoenix: Fences (Tremulance Remix)

Owl City: Fireflies (Marlow Remix)

(press that little triangle for the song or right click to download)

With music, friends, and possibly Juicy Couture track suits…make that extra juicy…

This is a tribute to my new and old friends who will venturing on a cross country road trip to be envied…

To Chinese fire drills at every Exxon…

Fried food for days…

Madlibs…

20 Questions…

Massive mix tapes…

Grand Canyon Cannonballs (just take a running start, I hear it’s the new thing)

Touching the Montana border because you can…

Consuming enough beef jerky and peanut M&M’s to kill a cow…milk and beef…get it?

Deciphering just what the hell B-Fu meant exactly…

Make those stories happen guys, minimize the road rage Ben…Hannah, Canada is north of us, so keep the mounties on the right and you should be golden…

NOT MY VERSION OF THE ’90s

The Roots, Boyz II Men, and Goo Goo Dolls. Not okay on any planet, any heaven, or any hell…they are sounding dangerously close to DMB covering a Carpenters song…creepy and wrong…these guys should leave well enough alone…Boyz II Men is nothing without the cane…The Roots are the coolest thing about Jimmy Fallon right now but he might be rubbing off, did you see Questlove smile?…and Iris should stay with Johnny Resnick’s hair…

Johnny Resnick is used to this type of thing…once upon a time FOX made him share the stage and his song with Avril Lavigne …to this day he twitches when Girlfriend comes on…I’m not a boys of Goo apologist…but my heart goes out to Johnny here…

BIG LOVE

Meet my family…well at least part of it…my sister Lindsey, Jessica, Jamie (along with her newly wedded husband Cody), and Caitlin. In the last couple years, Christmas has grown by 3 with Lindsey, Jessica, and Jamie getting married.  On behalf of Jacob (the other male Pereira cousin at Christmas) and myself, I would like to thank Reuben, Adam and Cody for sucking a bit of estrogen out of the room this year. Tattoos, New Castle, whiskey and cigars will forever be a Thanksgiving/Christmas institution. Oh, and Cody, your only initiation into our Texas clan is that you must design our sleeves. Thanks in advance.

I found myself not knowing what table to sit at for Christmas dinner. For the longest time  I sat at the “grown up” table, initially because I could, and then because of habit. Now I think I should probably get my licks in before the kids table becomes the couples table.  At that point (probably 2011) it will be Jacob, the dogs and me on the back patio. It’s already foregone conclusion that Grandma Una will not be receiving her first great grandchild from her oldest grandchild. Jessica, you ready? A few months back she called me and asked why I was being too picky with girls and that she was worried about me. “Be nice to them!” she says.  In her eyes, Jacob now holds the the golden ticket to carry on the Pereira name.

I figure we have a few more years for before we are joined by a second generations of cousin/nephews/neices so we might as well enjoy it. This year the house was a smorgasbord of micro brews, Call of Duty, and Mario Cart. This is no lie…my mom is without question better at Guitar Hero than me. Last year, we had a family wide tournament and my skills were left naked for all the world to see. I was stuck in the losers bracket with my two aunts that touch a video game controller once a decade. I’m also the worst at Mario Cart amongst all cousins except when I get that bullet thing…then, well then, I rule the world.

Being the HCIC (head cousin in charge) doesn’t carry near the clout as it once did, but the holidays sure do prove to be more  enjoyable. I’m pretty sure we put a hole in the floor at Jamie’s wedding reception when Paper Planes started playing. You must be able to dance…doesn’t matter if you’re good or not…you just must be able to get out there and dance…oh and Jacob, nice windmill…
